Pres-screen results, anyone?

@Dankadon - it was via email. In my daughter’s case it was before the first deadline and she heard about a month later, as they promised to those doing the early deadline.

How long did Penn State take to respond?

Penn State replied in about two weeks for us, but that was back in October. To chime in about Michigan…I think the web site says Dec 23 if you sent materials in after Oct. 15th. Best of luck!!

how fast is Ithaca responding to prescreens?

My D submitted her app this past Sunday and heard by Tuesday. Quickest turn-around so far.

Ok so are certain prescreens known to be hard to pass? Like historically it’s tough to pass certain schools prescreens? Just wondering if there’s harder ones then others.

I’ve been wondering the exact same thing as @theaterwork

Ithaca?

Irfmt18, how can I get more information about that open audition at Chelsea Studios?

@rampions Thank you! Got a yes yesterday! Going on 2/19!

Yes, Ithaca. I’m very new to this forum so I’m not the best resource regarding prescreens that are easier to pass as opposed to others. But there are some very good threads that talk about prescreens that may shed light on this topic and the CC old-timers

We have heard from all S’s pre-screens now. They took between a few days to almost a month to respond. However our requests were for Jan. or Feb. auditions, even one in March! It feels good to have all the auditions scheduled!

Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker first time poster. My son passed 4/5 prescreen (did not pass Penn State), but we are still waiting on Indiana University. It has been over a month. He wrote a while ago and they said it could be the beginning of December before they decided for those students who weren’t auditioning in November. Is anyone else still waiting on Indiana? I’ll post a longer note on the backround thread a little later. Thanks to everyone!

Whoops! Here’s rest of my post – the CC old timers

Oh gees! Phone problems. I’ll try later, when I can use my computer. Sorry everyone!

Fortunately I passed Ithaca’s last year but I heard they’re one of the hardest to pass and am especially bewildered because one of my really talented friends didn’t pass this year, but passed Michigan. So I think they really just depend on what they’re looking for in terms of type! It just depends on the person’s opinion.

Hi there! I’m a first time poster, but I have been reading all this great advice for a year now. THANK YOU all for sharing! I have learned a ton from this site. My D is a senior and has been fortunate to pass all her prescreens. She has applied to 14 audition schools and 4 non-audition programs. She did this because of the odds of getting into a program and the uncertainty about financing. You can’t be sure what a school will give you so she has to try to get the best bang for her buck. Based on what I’ve gleaned, it seems that it is most important to have a good mix of schools and don’t get too hung up on what may be the easiest prescreens to pass. You never know what a particular school wants that particular year. Consider non-audition programs like Muhlenberg or Willamette. Also consider adding a straight acting program, and build your own MT program with additional voice and dance. Sometimes it’s a little easier to get into a lesser known acting program than an MT program. For example, Wayne State University in Detroit has a solid acting program, it gives good aid, and it has a brand new professional theatre in its backyard – Detroit Public Theatre. I think there are many solid programs like Wayne’s around the country. Just take care not to limit yourself to the handful that everyone knows about. Finally, look back at threads from 2019 and 2018. Lots of nuggets of wisdom shared.

@daedalu we are waiting on Indiana. Submitted second week in Nov so I was going to wait another few days before calling. Has anyone heard from Indiana in the past 2 weeks?

“Yes” from Texas State came yesterday for Son#3.

@mtmamma2020 Indiana does seem to be taking a really long time and I was starting to think maybe my son’s video just got missed somehow. Let me know if you hear and I’ll do the same!
