Has any voice major or other music dep major received prescreen results from NEC or Juilliard
Nope! NEC still technically has until tomorrow (according to their holiday email) and I haven’t heard from Juilliard. I’ve passed MSM, Mannes, and Eastman, though. Don’t worry, even if one were to not pass prescreening, they’d still hear from the school.
I know it’s easy to freak out when you don’t hear from them lol.
Thanks are you a voice major also?
Just FYI - in the past my D (not particular to the schools mentioned) has received results after the published deadline …or at 8:00 at night on the published deadline when you imagine no one is working anymore. One conservatory said results would be out Friday and she received a positive email a day later. So … hang in there … you should hear back either way.
Thanks, NEC said they would have sent results by jan 6 so i was hoping to hear from them today, juilliard will take at least another week …
It’s OK to call the school in question if you need to make travel arrangements. They won’t hold it against you. And just as @bridgenail said, I remember my daughter hearing from one graduate school at about 8PM on the deadline evening!
That late reply reminds me of my D waiting to hear from Eastman regarding admission or not. During school on “decision day”, she had a call on her cell phone from a weird number and ignored it thinking it was a telemarketer. Then she noticed the voicemail icon. The call was from the Dean. By the time she could call back, the receptionist said the Dean left for the weekend. I thought she was going to have a heart attack because they didn’t say yay or nay in the message. Later that night, she had an email offer of admission. Phew.
FYI, I’ve been obsessively checking these forums on behalf of some of my students, and one of my voice students got her NEC audition invitation today.
My daughter heard from and received her NEC invite to audition late today, she is Vocal Performance.
FWIW, my son heard from Juilliard on January 28th last year (2016).
Just as an fyi, Juilliard is really late, my S applied there for grad school and he still hasn’t heard, along with Rice, some schools are pretty late. Given how many people apply to programs like Juilliard (they get a ton of applications, I forget in undergrad how many they get in each area, it is in the many hundreds and hundreds, a lot of them from people who ikely don’t have a chance, it is like the Ivy league that way) not surprised, they are processing both grad and undergrad admissions.
It also will depend on the instrument / voice type, I would think, as some instruments have already heard from Juilliard and Rice, for example. (I know this from people who have heard but have not posted here.)
Some undergrad VP applicants heard today while others have not…
