TN, just a question, not loaded or anything, but where are you from? I ask because I come from an area with a lot of military people and quite a lot of pride in the military. It was the parents here that would come say thank you for what you are doing. Yes, us appointees aren't there yet, but we made the choice to sacrifice.

I was dying for my principle to let go of my hand so I could leave the stage, he held me there for people. :(

Can we all let this just go, we have our opinions and all, I don't want to see the hostility here that we saw in the Westpoint forums a few days ago. This is a place for information and good ole stories and help and meeting. Does this need to be for arguing how accomplishments should be received, or ethics, etc etc etc?

Yes Hornet, and while I started this one, I also think we should all end it on that note.

Congratulations to those who have made it this far.

Now what we have yet to do is to always strive forward, push hard, and work to make this world a better place for the people around us. Never cease to make a sacrifice and to hold those you know above you, and to work for them, not for yourself.

Noone can argue with that, ovation or otherwise.

Wow, that's really cool. Thanks for the thought, Guy4Christ.

While I was getting a driver's license at DMV, the lady in the front counter asked where I was going for college. When I told her it was to USAFA, she beamed and told me that she loved me; she loved anyone who will be willing to serve our country. And when I was at school, I saw an af recruiter who was glad that I was going to USAFA and he said that good leaders are always wanted. So I think what those people said is a good enough award for me.

A naval officer told me recently that when I get into the Academy(any academy) there would be people there that may be cynical or are there for the wrong reasons which could be very discouraging sometimes. However, don't lose your sight on your dreams, goals, and why you are there in the first place. He also told me that an academy education is a six year experience. The extra two are when we are 2Lt.s learning are way through the military.

My school isn't have the senior awards assembly we've had for the past 4+ years, so my ALO can't speak before my school about my appointment.

Patty Murray, the senator that nominated me, was going to speak at my graduation, but because of other commitments she isn't going to be able to.

It would have been nice to have a photo opportunity for my family, but all that matters is I have my appointment. Any recognition would have just been an bonus.
