So I've been talking around with all of the science teachers about starting a science club, but I was wondering how, exactly, this works. A teacher has, obviously, got to start it, but how do I make myself in charge of it? Because I already have numerous projects written down that we could do, many science fair listings to enter as a team, and tons more. So what I am basically asking is: how does one become president? (This shouldn't be much of a problem because the leader of our school's entire science department and chem department believes that I am one of the smartest kids. The leader of the bio department would also do anything for me because she loves me so much. :-D)

first look up the definition of president... then follow through lol... actually ur wrong a teacher doesnt start it... a teacher supervises it... its ur idea to start the club... therefore ur the "Founder"... lol man haha... gotta know these things before u do anything of that sort good thing u posted on forums

Find some of kids interested in science. And lead the way. Lead.

That's what I figured. Thanks guys! And I already got most of my friends to agree to join. All I need to do is make the club and post flyers in the school.

Make it your own man. I cofounded my science club my sophomore year. It might help getting someone else to help you out as VP or something, but once you post fliers, getting announcements up, I'm sure people will come. There's always kids out there who love science, just like us. :)

Also, consider whether you want your club to form around a competition such as Science Olympiad, Botball, or FIRST. This might be an easy way to attract people, and it would be way fun. I'm co-president of Science Olympiad at my school, and even though we're not the best team rankings-wise, we have a ton of fun and really enjoy competitions.

Found a club, and have elections for presidency...

You should check with the principal or an assistant principal to see if your school has a procedure for officially starting a club. They will probably be happy to hear about your plans.

great points burnitblue and dsultemeier. also good point databox. i can see how elections would make it fair. i was actually going to ask my counselor as well, but i'm pretty sure she will only point me in the direction of the principal.
