President of State Senate as a reference

I was waitlisted, so my application is still alive at Stanford. The president of my state's senate is from my town, knows me OK, and will speak at my FFA chapter's banquet next saturday. Should i ask him for a reccomendation, or at least ask him to call Cornell. Would it help my application or just look cheesy?

He's also running for the democratic nomination for the U.S. senate race, and he'll probably get it. the other guy, the state auditor, recently got caught cheating on his wife

The protocol in regards to recs from celebrities is that they are worthless unless they're extremely personalized. Unless the senator can relate personal stories that reveal something unique about you, don't bother asking for a rec. A general, vague, impersonal letter will do you no good, no matter who it's from.

GOD?!!!!!!

God ... well, he knows you pretty well, so that would be an awesome recommendation :)

Actually, im pretty sure none of us would want God as a refference

ahh yes, he might write on your recommendation:

"John Doe here is already condemmend to the gates of h e l l since he has sinned such that there is no repentance from his sentance to an eternity in purgatory!! If you see good in him as an adcom you too share the same fate as dear John. I am God hear me roar"
