Congrats to all the wonderfully accomplished students who applied, whether you got it or not! You are all amazing candidates, and it must have been very difficult for selecting the finalists for this scholarship.
Would you mind sharing what other schools you have good scholarship offers from? My D was blessed to receive the TU presidential scholarship, but my youngest will be a HS senior next year and it would be nice to know about other schools that also give great merit scholarships.
Honestly I didn’t receive that many other great merit scholarships, but that’s mainly because I applied to a lot of out-of-state public universities like Purdue and Georgia Tech. Tulsa was the best offer I had received up to that point even before the presidential scholarship. If your youngest has national merit, then that’s a great avenue for a lot of different guaranteed scholarships at quality schools. I wish I had more advice, but I ended up applying to a lot of expensive schools (not the greatest idea!) so not much came my way in terms of scholarship other than this. The best advice I have would be to really heavily consider the average net cost of colleges before deciding where to apply, and also to look extensively in -state where the return on investment is much much higher.
That’s what it is. My son received his envelope on Thursday and also had an email letting him know he was awarded the presidential.
Congratulations on your scholarship and thanks for the feedback. Good luck!
