So I received an email saying I was selected as a presidential scholar which is $25k a year + automatic entrance to honors (anong other things) but I am hoping I would still have an opportunity to apply for a full ride! Anyone know if I will have an opportunity to receive more?
My D got the same email. No info about interviews for the trustee scholarship.
Do you think we will be invited to interview? Or do you think this is final. I know of one person who was inviting to interview but not notified of any $ value @2manypets
I’m not sure. I thought you had to go out to interview for the Presidential but I guess they are doing things differently this year. The last few years EA applicants also got a 2,000 EA scholarship. I wonder if they are still giving that?
Yeah I am very confused. It is definitely different. I was really hoping I’d have a chance at a full ride @2manypets but I cannot complain w $25k a year
We’re excited about the Presidential too, but we were really hoping to be able to get more. Maybe we wil get more info in the next few days.
I sure hope so @2manypets lmu is just so expensive!!!
Yeah, honestly I’m not sure we can afford it even with the $25,000. It’s an amazing school, but we can’t put ourselves in a lot of debt to go there.
Same here. @2manypets that’s why I was hoping Trustee
May I ask what your stats are?
34 and 4.4 weighted. 3.96 unweighted @jennacwa
@jennacwa you are in the lmu gc lol same!!!
34 and 4.17 UW.
Did you guys receive the email to apply for the honors program earlier? I was invited to apply via a physical letter back in December, and it said I would receive further instructions via email but i haven’t gotten them yet. I haven’t heard anything regarding scholarship info either…I have extremely similar stats with both of you and am wondering if my honors email is in the same place as my scholarship info email.
Yes @buff2021, a physical letter arrived for my daughter, but not an email. On page 2 of the letter, there is a link to apply for the University Honors Program. The letter was dated December 20, but says the link to apply would only become active on January 9. Here is the link: http://academics.lmu.edu/honors/ – Does anyone know if there is a link to view Financial Aid and/or merit scholarships through the applicant portal? Maybe there is a tab that gets activated once the awards are made? And has anyone heard anything about Arrupe scholarships? Or any reference to an LMU Scholar’s Weekend?
If you haven’t gotten an email yet does that mean you didn’t receive a scholarship or are they sent out over the coming days? Also wondering about what @OakTree444 said in reference to the scholarship weekend
My D got onto her My LMU account on Tuesday after she got the Presidential notification email and looked around for any further financial aid info, including links or tabs that had recently appeared. She didn’t find anything. Her email said she would receive more info soon and it mentioned a lunch for Presidential scholars at the accepted student event in April. We haven’t heard anything about an invitation to scholars weekend, so my guess is we’re not in consideration for trustee.
Thanks @2manypets – very helpful. Congrats to you and to @llewengineering! I had studied last year’s thread, and it definitely sounds like they are doing things a little differently this year. However, the LMU financial aid/scholarship page (“LMU Scholarships for Freshmen”) of their website does still state that there is an annual Scholars Weekend and: “Students invited to Scholars Weekend will be notified in late January and early February.” So am guessing that is still ahead for you…Best of luck to both of you and congrats on Presidential! @Wandering9947 – the description of the criteria for these 3 big scholarships (Arrupe (amount varies from $12.5K to full ride), Trustee (full ride), and Presidential ($25K/year) is on the financial aid site under “LMU Academic Scholarships for Freshmen.”
I’m very confused about the scholarship process. I applied and was accepted under EA. I was also invited to apply for the scholarship but it said that Presidential scholarship receivers were automatically admitted into the honors program. Have any EA applicants received scholarship information? Do I need to apply for the honors program before I hear back from anything?
@collegekid171 I believe you have until March to apply for Honors. The scholarships and financial aid for EA should all come out within the next week. You could wait until you get your scholarship offer before you apply for Honors. If you don’t get a scholarship that grants automatic admission to Honors, you would still have plenty of time to apply for Honors.
