I was wondering if anyone had received an invitation for this program (especially international students). If you did get one, did it come with the acceptance letter? And what were your stats (Test scores, GPA, Advanced level courses, etc)? Thanks for your help!

Well, I'm not an international, so I can't help you there, but I have been invited to the Presidential Honors Scholars Program. I was also offered a $10,000 scholarship, although I am a NMF and I have no financial need (which they say the amount is partially based off), so those things affected the award, I would imagine. Here are my stats:

SAT I: 2290 (800 CR/780 M/710 WR)
SAT II: 2320 (780 US/770 MII/770 LIT)
GPA: 3.82 unw./4.41 w.
Rank: 14/768
AP's: 4 scores of 5; 5 AP's and Calc III this year
Extras: Decent. A couple of modest leadership positions, spent my time with Clarinet, German, and Youth and Government. Decent awards, but nothing too special (NMF was probably the best).

Dear advantagious, and anyone else:
Do students apply for those scholarships or are they offered? We would not be eligible for needs based aid. My daughter was admitted to Tisch, and although we are thrilled, the cost is really crushing and translates into yet later retirement for us parents; Unless she takes out a handicapping amount of loan, which she won't likely be able to pay very easily with her chosen profession. She has far cheaper alternatives, and an honors scholarship to Emerson which is also a great school in a great location. She is also admitted to UC Berkeley, UCSD and UCI which would be in-state tuition and therefore less than half the cost, even if she doesn't get any scholarships to any of these? What to do???

The scholarships are offered to you, you don't have to do anything to get them except apply to the school. I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences and live in California too, and I really thought I was only going to get about $5000 tops from NYU. But I just got my financial aid award today and it's $25,000!! I am so excited. It looks like it's probably NYU for me! And no, I had absolutely no demonstrated financial need either. I think it was all based on merit for me.

Here are my stats:

SAT: 800 CR 790 M 770 W
SAT II: 800 Math IIC 760 Chemistry 690 Literature
GPA: 3.89/4.30

I am a National Merit Finalist and named NYU my first choice, though Columbia actually was. I got waitlisted at Columbia though, and rejected from the entire Ivy League. Thursday was one of the worst days of my life.

I was invited in the middle of March for the Presidential Scholars Program, it came in a small, regular sized separate letter.

Ok, thanks for your help :)

Our 'stats' are similar advantagious and sofianoori, so I'll wait and see another week.
