If you get the Presidential Scholarship (half tuition), could it be added on to the National Merit Scholarship (half tuition), thus covering full tuition? Or can you only receive one or the other?

you can only receive one or the other.

No such luck. The Presidential Scholarship and the National Merit Scholarship are essentially the same thing…you automatically get one if you are a National Merit Scholar.

What’s the chance that they’ll bump you up to a Trustee if you attend the Presidential Interview and you’re a NMF already?

Anyone have an answer?

USC doesn’t make this data available, Torcher. No one can answer. If you look at previous years threads (do a search) you may find a few ccers who talk about being bumped up. It’s not common, but does happen on occasion.

Right, madbean, I have looked at those previous years threads, but I was just checking if someone at USC or with more knowledge about the scholarship selection would be able to given an indication whether it is still ‘possible’ and the extent of the possibility.

Unless they are awarded Trustee, NMFs get the 1/2 tuition Presidential + a NMF award of $1000/yr (or so, to the best of my memory). You may also get additional renewable merit $$ from the specific school within USC that you are accepted by, e.g. engineering.
