Anyone here a presidential scholar? I just read a disturbing forum that said only reading and math SAT scores mattered, in which case I should get invited at the least. However, that was from 2010 and makes little sense to me. If it isn't the case, the chances of someone in California making it with below a 2390 is extremely unlikely and I'd like to stem my hopes as soon as possible. Does anyone know anything more? The website is very vague.

I wish I could help you. I too have been wondering about this. I did call (phone: 310-341-2777) and I got an actual person who was helpful. Here is what I learned: 1) It does just look at SAT CR + Math or ACT sum of all 4 parts (I forgot to ask if it is ACT with Writing or ACT without Writing or either–but I know that they don’t care about the essay score). Also, they only look at one sitting, ie not superscores. 2) They can’t tell us the cutoff until 1/21/13, and the cutoff varies from state to state. 3) I asked what Missouri’s cutoff was for last year (ie 1/21/12). He said that it is now “deleted from their system so I can’t tell you”. I thought that was a bit odd. Someone ought to have that data, but I tried googling it and could not find it. 4) From my research on CC it looks like in the "high-performing states) (eg MA, NJ, CA) you usually have to have a 1600 SAT or a 144 ACT (ie 36 on each of the 4 sections–sum is 144) to make it. However, in some less well-performing states, a 141 ACT or a 1570 (or 1560??–that was my son’s score!) may make it. Does anyone else know of how to find last year’s cutoffs?

YES! This is so cool, my friend and I both got 1600s in one sitting. Hope this can get us in. Thank you so much for sharing your information :)
