Does anyone know when the Presidential Scholar Program is going to start making notifications? All it says on MyStatus is that they have received my application, and as soon as a decision is made it will be posted there.
My DD’s status says it is being reviewed, and it has said that for a long time. She was admitted 1/21.
They were already notified.

I thought I couldn’t afford college, but got into both Turing and Presidential on the same day(2 days ago)… mm… frankly, i am simply not that excited… I am way too conflicted right now… I always thought that I sucked academically… I had a C in math and B’s in history and English my freshman year… granted, i was new to the country, but such a primitive reason can at best be called an excuse… my SAT’s were decent at best… No clue why I got into TS…
Still, UT doesn’t meet full need of students… fingers crossed that I get into a school which meets full need!
Still, no clue how I ended up at Turing… Presidential… I am not very good academically; no clue how I got this one either…”
It looks like both IbnHooligan and gk159yo are immigrants.
Hey Yaya, I am an immigrant, but I didn’t get into TS and Presidential just because of that. I can detect a faint overtone of antipathy from you. Let me be clearer about my personal context:
I came to the US without my parents 3.5 years ago.
When considered in a racial context, an SAT score of 2120 is pretty low for an Asian; however, my low score in the CR highlights my immigration to the US, so I am pretty sure I had some leeway here. I have obtained perfect scores on my SAT II’s, and straight 5’s on all 7 or 8 AP tests I have taken so far. I brought my rank from ~200/800 to 10/792 in 3.5 years. I am pretty sure I am at least an average student. Heck, I’ll post my grades for the last semester here for you to see:
AP Stats: 100
AP World History: 98
AP English IV: 97 (my teacher probably hates me because I argued for a 9 in the beginning of the year)
AP Macro: 98
Ind. Math: 100 (already taken math through Linear Algebra)
AP Physics C: 100
AP Bio: 100
The C in Math and B’s in history and English were only there the first semester of my freshman year. I have continuously sought to outperform myself and raised my standards throughout these past years.
Besides running a small e-business and taking upper-division computer science classes at UT and Berkeley, I have also provided an outlet for my interest in the humanities through papers analyzing post-feudal peasant lifestyle. State-level math-contest and national-level computer science contest triumphs aside, I also have financial responsibilities, which demand that I spend at least 10 hours working every week throughout the year(of course, I take another job during the summer).
Lol… I am gk159yo by the way… I switch back and forth between the two cc accounts… lol… anyways, I sent a 2040 SAT to UT since I applied fairly early… Also, I didn’t send any of the SAT II’s… I think they knew about the AP’s though since I reported them through TS application…
I thought you were Asian. You belittle yourself instead of pointing out achievements.
This country loves stories how people overcome hardship. And immigration is hardship.
You did absolutely great to compare with those around you. And you absolutely deserve what you’ve got.
Congratulations!
Just in case anyone is wondering/waiting for notification, I emailed their office and they said that some notifications have been made but not all.
@peanut10 Did your notification on Presidential Scholars come through MyStatus or email or both?
Thank you @michaelam867 for that update.
Oh… I first got it on MyStatus… then, by mail about 2-3 weeks later, then e-mail… It’s a huge school, so the delay is kind of expected… But michaelam867, if you are a financially needy student like me, you’ll definitely get the award! Don’t fret over it even if you don’t! There are federal loans you can apply to that are subsidized and come with a grace period…
