Presidential Scholar Question

Okay I'm looking into a few different colleges and im noticing the "Presidential Scholar" Scholarship which basically gives you a full ride. I'm planning on applying for it to whatever college on my list offers it but I wanted to know if you are required to go to that college upon being recognized as a finalist/recipient. I don't want to get the award at two colleges and have them both thinking that I'm going to go there hands down... I want to keep my options open. Help please...

Obviously if you dont go to the college you wont get the scholarship. lots of colleges use Presidential Scholarship as the name’ they have nothing to do with each other and winning a scholarship doesnt obligate you or even imply that you will be going to the school. think before you type.

@OP,
A “Presidential Scholar(ship)” (referring to the President of the University offering the award) is a name used by many institutions. Each may be very different from any other. Some require applications, some don’t, some are full rides, some aren’t. Awards of this type are institutional, only valid at the institution offering it. Don’t let the common names confuse you. It is possible to receive “outside” awards, not connected with any institution, but the applications for these will be apart from any given University admission application …

There IS a Presidential Scholars program, run by the federal gov. but this is a recognition program, not a scholarship.

You do NOT have to go to a college just because it offers you a Presidential or whatever scholarship.

Yes, there are some schools that offer “full tuition” Presidential scholarships. Feel free to apply to whatever schools you want that offer them.

Some are competitive, and some are assured for stats.

What are your stats?

ACT: English-36 Math-34 Writing-32 Science-32 TOTAL:34 (I am taking this one again but it will probably stay around here. maybe a 35?)

BTW…the ACT seems to be YOUR test. Your SAT score is far below and even if you get your projected 2150 on the next SAT, your ACT is still much higher.

What schools with full tuition scholarships are you applying to?

BTW…are these your financial safety schools? Are you concerned that your reach/match schools with expect too high of a family contribution?
