Hello. I applied for the Presidential Scholar Program and I'm wondering if anyone on here has heard back yet. A couple of my friends got notification that they were not semifinalists. Anyone here a positive reply?

they have the canidates on this website.....

hopefully it will help...

Semi-finalists are posted.

thanks for posting this stuff! i almost started screaming when i saw my name! :D

woo hoo! my name too! does anyone know what happens next? do we have to fill out any additional forms? or does anyone know what they select on?

I see that the names were posted. Did anyone get anything in the mail?

not here. i think last time they waited a few days after posting names online to mail the candidate packets, right?

MM, i know that this next round involves us sending in a biography thing for the 2007 presidential scholars yearbook if we are selected. seems kind of weird to ask for a bio before they select the winners! maybe they'll ask us to do verifications for our activities. i just don't want to write any more essays!!! :)

I hope we get to update our resumes a bit because I accomplished some substantial things since I first submitted my app that will make me more competitive. I think that's doubtful though.

I agree--no more essays.

With luck, I'll see some of you in DC. Of course, we won't know about that until May. Odds are that I'll forget about this by then and will either be pleasantly surprised one day, or get a rejection notice and shrug.

i searched through the other PSP threads, and we have two more essays...one's a bio for the yearbook if selected (they need a headshot with it), and the other's on community service (at least, that was last year's format). here's the link to where i found the info...

some girl I know won this thing back in high school

got the packet today... the community service essay is optional, and the bio should be 150 words or less. they include press release forms in the packet, too. :)

Is this the President's Scholar Program for the CSU's?

My son's name is posted on the site, but he hasn't received anything in the mail yet. What is the due date for the new info? It must be a fast turn around to allow the selection by early May.

^^No. This is a national level award that is not sponsored by any college.

i wonder how they select the winners from this stage? it doesn't seem like the bio is judged, and the service essay is optional. are they just weening out the kids that don't bother to submit the stuff? i think that they probably already know who'll get it... just my opinion. ;)

You guys, scholars have been posted! http://www.ed.gov/programs/psp/2007/scholars.html

nooooooooooo

seems like it is based at least partly on Standardized scores....

what kind of scores do you have to have to be competitive for this?

depends on the state you are in...search the forums for more information. in states like cali, you basically have to have perfect scores. that's how you get nominated for the competition in general...top 20 guys and 20 girls based on test scores.

ihope, i feel your pain! well, not really, b/c i'm not a fan of bush and am glad to not have to go! :D

I don't much care for Bush either. It just would've been an amazing experience. Congrats to anyone who got it.
