Have notifications of people being candidates for the pres. scholar already been sent with the acceptance for honors? If not, does anyone know when they’ll send them? I really want to at least be a candidate.

No, they will be sent in a seperate envelope according to a Scholar I spoke with from last year.

has anyone gotten envelopes yet?

I was under the impression that they were to be sent with the Acceptance letter...

Maybe not though?

How are finalists selected?

Letters of invitation are sent out to the finalists between Dec. 18-20th each year. Finalists visit Boston College (at the University's expense) for a weekend in February to learn more about the University, the Presidential Scholars Program, and the city of Boston. Personal interviews with faculty members and administrative staff and a written essay done over the weekend serve as the basis for the final choice of Presidential Scholars, who are generally notified in March.

It's coming any day guys!! Time to get nervous...

The PSP looks amazing, but my chances are low.

trevian, what were the basic stats of the Presidential Scholar that you spoke with last year? Like SAT, class rank

Well I'm not trevian but on the website it says that you need to be in the top 1-2% of applicants. So basically... if you into honors (top 5%) you have a shot, if you didn't, you don't. Even if you get invited as a candidate you have to go there and actually fight for a spot.

For those of you waiting, my daughter received a Presidential Scholar weekend invitation today by priority mail. She has declined the offer, since she was accepted ED to Columbia. Good luck to those of you still waiting.

Hmm that means the rest of us are screwed. I got my BC admit package in only 2 days and have yet to get a pres scholar invitation.
