<p>hey just wondering how "prestigious" or important being a presidential scholar is...like is it really hard to become a nominee for one? the deadline is thursday, and i'm having doubts as to whether i can get everything in on time.
also anyone know if the transcript has to be sent directly by your school, or can your school give it to you in a sealed envelope and you send it off?</p>
<p>I think it's pretty legit. I go to an elite prep school and a girl got it from here last year. She was accepted EA to Harvard, and then ended up going to Columbia.</p>

<p>I disagree. The nomination is based on merit, sure, but the actual selection? Just a bunch of essays. They don't even look at awards.</p>

<p>It used to be very comprehensive -- test scores, letters of recommendation, transcripts, awards, ECs, essays,....</p>
