Presidential Scholars Program

Hi! I'm just wondering if anyone on here as any additional information about the FSU Presidential Scholars Program. Their website doesn't give too much information: http://presidentialscholars.fsu.edu I'm looking for info like the general profile of a student invited to be apart of the program, does residency matter, etc.
Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Bump :)

Unfortunately I don’t know much about the scholarship, but I do know that it includes an out-of-state tuition waiver if you get it and are out-of-state, so I don’t think residency matters.

There’s only about 25 students that get it every year, so I’m sure that it’s pretty competitive. I would guess that the only way you’d probably have a chance at the scholarship was if you were offered one of the $9600 scholarships when you received your admissions decision. Of course, you should still probably apply if you have a strong profile, but I’m sure that’s probably a baseline for those that decide the Presidential Scholars.

Thank you @Pasbal Do you know if the scholarship is geared toward students specifically with very high grades and test scores, etc. or do they look at students holistically?

Honestly couldn’t tell you for certain, but I would venture a guess that it would be holistically. I’m sure too that the application plays a huge part in selection.

okay thank you

My D received an invitation to apply to the Honors Program in a large envelope with a letter also strongly encouraging her to apply to the Presidential Scholars. I believe you must be accepted to the Honors program before you can apply for the Presidential scholars but the deadline for Presidential Scholars in January 28 so I might be wrong on that one. She also received a letter and brochure about the Presidential Scholars in the same mailing. This all came in a large envelope about 3 days after her acceptance. She is instate and received the $9600 over 4 years freshman scholarship.

“Scholarship students invited to the Honors Program are also invited to apply for the Presidential Scholars award”. This was taken from the website. It is a sizable application and requires a bit of planning.

Thank you @saismom Congrats on your daughter’s acceptance!
