Presidential Scholars Question

list published tomorrow around noon Eastern (i called their office)

The list is online NOW Presidential Scholars Program

If your name is on the list and you have received the application package, please send me a private message. Our mail is S - L - O - W. I still have Christmas presents that have not arrived. Please help me out with what's in the package. (NO competition here- I'm not from your state if you are from a state!) Thanks!

Yayyyy I'm on it!! As are two good friends and a few acquaintances and a bunch of other people from our county. My county's (public, TYVM) schools are awesome. :D

SWEET!!! im on it!

Wow! I can't believe it! My son is on the list - wow. just wow.

There have been so many years of teachers in the public schools saying things like "oh, he's just a good reader. That evens out by the time they reach third grade" Well, that's a rant for the Parent's forum ;)

Congratulations to all you hard-working, super bright kids! I hope you all get into the schools of your choice with big, fat scholarships to go with!

I got it!!!! Does this factor at all into admissions? :P

ever get a response from Presidential Scholars and ACT about the possible discrimination against ACT takers because of the conversion formula?

I think this is a potentially serious question.

agh premature post... when do we find out if we are the top 20?

There are no scholarships connected to these-just a trip to DC and the honor. The first round is based on SAT score only.

Do any colleges offer scholarships if we win our state?

Let's put it this way, if you win your state you'd need to have so many honors and achievements that I would be amazed if you weren't eligible for quite a few scholarships on your own. No, I don't think there are any scholarships specifically linked to the Presidential Scholarship.

yes i finally got the envelope today.:)

This thing is huge....

See what I mean?

Poseur: congratulations :) And, no, the cutoffs are not that high for every state. I'm also on the list and I have a 1520. It's kind of like National Merit: the bigger the talent pool, the more competitive the pool of students is.

holy crap I don't feel like answering all these questions =(
I did well on the SATs... why must I be tortured for my accomplishments?

same here Saturn...its exhausting!!!!

How long are your answers to the self assessment section? HOw long is your main essay?

bump!!! i want to reuse one of mine but it leaves a good 8000 characters left. why would they have a 10,700 character limit? do they expect people to fill it up or are they just setting a really high ceiling so people can write essays as long or as short as they want?
