Presidential scholarship calls

Did anyone get the call? What are your stats and such if you did?

I haven’t gotten one but I can’t say i’ve been expecting one lol

i dont think anyone can expect one. I mean, 60 kids out of 2000. throw a dart

I got one! I actually got an email, today at around 6. I was completely shocked.

what are your stats sara12?

I got an email too! Shocked as well, but so psyched.

Isn’t it based on essays and not stats, lifesavergum?

no email for me…congrats to those who got one!!

I’m guessing they notified in state kids today and will notify OOS tomorrow?

The email said 60 students were invited. On Scholarships this, I read that there are 15 Presidential scholars and 50 Medalist. Does this mean that all the people invited down will either be Presidential or Medalist?

Well, this is the end of the road for my OSU journey. I did not get an invitation for this, so frankly I have no incentive to go to a college that I would have gotten into with a 2.7 GPA. This scholarship was my only interest in the university; hopefully my hard work will pay off at one of the brand name schools I applied to.

Powerbond, I feel exactly like you. Another problem we have is there is no real financial safety as all other schools are private and there is no way I can afford the EFC number. Good luck.

As much as I like Ohio State, I had to admit their scholarships are disappointing compared to institutions of similar size and stature.

Today, the university receives a gift of one hundred million dollars, and none (?) to scholarships. I found that disheartening.

[“But For Ohio State” - The Ohio State University](<a href=“http://www.osu.edu/features/2011/butforohiostate]"But”>http://www.osu.edu/features/2011/butforohiostate)

I am in state and still have not received a call. I am frustrated as well. I figured with a 34 ACT and lengthy list of extracurriculars I would have received something. My essays were seemingly very strong too.

One of my friends received an interview but declined it. He had a 31 ACT score, lower class rank than me as well. We are both top 2% though.

Powerbond,

With all due respect, what has possibly made you think that you could get into Ohio State with a 2.7? I’m sorry that you weren’t considered for the scholarship, but lashing out with unreasoned and unfounded comments does not change that fact.

Good luck with your “brand name” schools.

LennyPepperidge,
Powerbond did not say that he or she had a 2.7 gpa. Powerband said that one of the “brand name” schools accept kids with 2.7 gpa. Carefully read the post, before you start “lashing out with unreasoned and unfounded comments.” People on CC need to stop making conflicts out of nothing!!!

He did not say that he had a 2.7, but it’s clear that he said that he could have gotten into OSU with a 2.7. I think you should carefully read the sentence.

Here is the exact sentence:

“Well, this is the end of the road for my OSU journey. I did not get an invitation for this, so frankly I have no incentive to go to a college that I would have gotten into with a 2.7 GPA.”

It’s very clear that he’s slamming OSU as a college that he “could” have gotten into with a 2.7 and since this college that is so beneath his other choices won’t give him its top scholarship he’ll be looking elsewhere. Considering that this is his ONLY post in the Ohio State forum, I’m not taking it personal. Just calling a ■■■■■ a ■■■■■.

if they plan to offer 50 medalist scholarships and 15 presidential then they’d have to give at least 5 medalists to people who didn’t get an interview. Anyone know anything about this?

And I agree…OSU’s scholarships are pretty weak compared to other schools

The person who said 50 medalist and 15 presidential made a typo. They intend to award 15 presidential and 45 medalist.

From the email they sent earlier this month: “After Scholarship Interview Weekend concludes, we will select the students who will be awarded the Presidential and Medalist Scholarships. We anticipate awarding 15 Presidential and 45 Medalist Scholarships.”
