for the presidential scholarship essay/short answer, i’m given 3 options:
1)Share your response to any of the essay topics you previously answered (or will answer) when applying to a freshman honors program.
2)Share your response to any essay topic you’ve answered or plan to answer for any other college’s admissions application.
3)In 250 words or fewer, respond to the following: Each Presidential Scholar receives $1,500 to study abroad, conduct research or participate in an internship. If we gave you the $1,500 today, how would you use it?
i have a question about 1 and 2. they both tell me to share my response to any of the essay topics i wrote previously. does that mean that i can just copy and paste the one of my essays?
Yes. They’re basically giving you a “free square” to submit the supplemental essay of your choice. So, ie: if another school asked you to write about an intellectual pursuit and you really love what you wrote, you can just use that here. I would do that if you have another essay for a school that highlights something really special about your personality or life. Otherwise, I think the 3rd option is quite interesting, and could tell them a lot about you and your goals, as well.
Yes. Gotta love it. They are giving you a chance to reuse an essay rather than write another one from scratch.
Just to be clear, don’t reuse an essay you have given them elsewhere, just reuse a response you already have prepared that they have not seen.
@BrownParent wait so you’re saying I can’t use an essay that I already submitted to a college?
I think @BrownParent is saying don’t use an essay you’ve already given them (such as on their application). But you can give them something you’ve given another college.
