I got an email this week to let me know about a presidential scholarship program at Colby that I may be eligible for. It is offered to the top 5% of applicants and the email said I received the email after the admissions office reviewed my application. Has anyone else received this email? Does this mean that I got in?

I got it. I don’t think it’s an official statement of acceptance but it seems like everyone they sent that to will be getting in

S just got the email - seems pretty promising!

Hi I got the email too and was excited, but when contacting admissions, they said this may or may not indicate acceptance; this seems like a rather ambiguous communication - either very promising or borderline cruel!

PS Of course my hope is “very promising” - sounds like a great program!!

I got an email last week! Congratulations you guys from the research I’ve done it sounds like an amazing program!

What exactly is the Presidential Scholarship program? My D got a letter indicating that she is in the program. It seems the main benefit is that you can get a grant of up to $3000 to perform research in an area that the student chooses. This is nice, but it would be nicer if the Presidential Scholarship was a merit scholarship of $10k.

Do ED admittees get named Presidential Scholars or this something only offered to regular decision admittees as an incentive to attend?

Hi, Westporter - both ED and regular decision candidates are eligible to be named Presidential Scholars. The program offers top students, regardless of admission round, a number of academic opportunities and benefits. More information on the program can be found here: [Colby College | Admissions & Financial Aid | Presidential Scholars Program](http://www.colby.edu/admissions_cs/presidential/).

I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to Colby for offering us this opportunity! I know this is really just a small perk to the program, but I am incredibly excited to take up a new instrument/practice my vocals with the new music classes open to the Presidential Scholars!
