So I applied in time to be considered for PSP, but I'm just wondering what are the factors that they look at when they're deciding which students get into PSP?

Weighted GPA - 4.28
Unweighted GPA - 3.67
class rank - 59/428

ACT composite: 35
english - 35
math - 35
reading - 32
science 36
(english/writing - 31) I got an 8 on the essay ='(

SATIIs:
math IIc - 800
physics - 780
chemistry - 750

If ECs are not part of the eqn, what do you think of my chances?

Thanks in advance!

Supposedly, the essay is he biggest part of winning the PSP; but I mean your ACT is great but your GPA/class rank are a bit low. I think there is a distribution somewhere on their website that says like (when they recalculate you GPA) that u need 4.2+ WGPA to have a shot. (Only APs are waited) I personally did not fill out a lot for the activities but I wrote a pretty good essay (according to multiple sources, though there were 2or3 grammer/spelling mistakes) I mean, I think the whole thing is a crapshoot, but w/e.

The interviews are the “biggest part” in the process. As for being selected to proceed to the next round: who knows? I’ve seen too much variability over the years to even try to make a guess.

1600/1600 SATs are rejected, while 1250/1600 are accepted. Valedictorians are rejected and 3.6 UWGPA students are selected. It’s all over the place.

thanks for responses

lol GP, that’s crazy. I won’t worry about it then haha.

Mamooie is right for sure. I did not make semifinalist myself even with a near perfect SAT and valedictorian status because I did not feel compelled to write a very good essay at the time. I wrote about something stupid like how great I am at Tekken 5 (that’s not what I wrote about but it was on par with what I wrote about in terms of stupidity).

ECs are a huge part. Heard at CWT about the average PSer being pretty involved in HS/community, playing 2-3 varsity sports on average, capt of 1+, but not all of them play sports. Avg. test scores are high, but range is very broad.

Oh wow haha, I’m not even going to get my hopes up then.

thanks for letting me know guys
