Presidential Scholarship Stats

Can anyone give me a round about from years previous? I currently have full tuition under the NMSF scholarship, but cannot afford room and board since Fordham uses financial aid money to fund the scholarship.

I am a 2240 but only 1440 M+CR. Top 4%, but I get the feeling that presidential scholars have higher stats than this. Can anyone verify?

I don’t think it is based only on stats. It’s my understanding that the highest class rankings, coming from a jesuit school, and other intangibles contribute. It is so few kids that get it (20?) that I think everyone should probably assume they WON’T get it and a very few lucky kids will get a pleasant surprise.

Many people with better stats don’t get that scholarship. Frankly, anyone who gets his or her tuition waived at any university is very fortunate, although it’s a shame room and board here are so expensive. Then again, with roommate tripling and a few thousand each from parents, a part-time job, and loans, I don’t see how you couldn’t swing residential costs.

Class percentile and SAT are below what Fordham says you should have for Presidential: [Do I qualify for a Deans, Presidential or National Semifinalist Scholarship?](http://fordham.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1056/~/do-i-qualify-for-a-deans,-presidential-or-national-semifinalist-scholarship%3F)

Again, Mme, if you got into fancy Ivy schools, I think their need-based FA for you would be better than full tuition. A guy from my year in HS applied to Cornell as an ultra-reach just because it would have been free (i.e., full ride) for him at ~60k family income.

Edit: Jamiecakes, from what I’ve seen, location (farther is better) also helps.

Thanks to you both! If attending Fordham I plan to take full advantage of work study and triple rooming. I’m trying to be economical considering my brother is entering college next year and the taking the reality of my financial situation post hurricane Sandy into account.
