Can any past PS or TS recipients share their stats? It would really help :)

Thank you!!

Can any past PS or TS recipients share their stats? It would really help :)

Thank you!!

Just wait until you hear back. Then you won’t have to worry about whether you got it or not and you keep your sanity. It’s second semester senior year, have fun!

Good advice Matty! Sharing stats at this point can only increase stress.

This wait is killing me!! I just want to know, one way or the other…

I got the Presidential Scholarship!!! I also got into the Honors College. SO EXCITED!!! :)

Hi Just a happy but unusual question. Daughter got Presidential Scholarship for BU but not Honors college. Can you be a Presidential Scholar and not be part of the Honors College. Being in the HC is really a big plus and I guess she missed that mark or maybe getting the Presidential Scholarship implies you made the Honors College? Thanks for any advice but all good obviousely quite nice to be admitted and get a Pres Scholarship. Can’t argue that. HappyDad12

the honors college and receiving the presidential scholarship are completely unrelated, i believe. i got accepted ED with the presidential scholarship, but didn’t apply to be in the honors college (didn’t write the essay).

I got the Presidential, but I was really hoping for the Trustee. How do you know if you’ve been accepted to the Kilachand Honors College? Would it be under Invitations? I guess I didn’t get in there…

It should be under decisions

You can get one without the other, and as mentioned by above poster, it’s listed on the portal.

HappyDad12, my son is in the same situation. While he’s very happy to have been accepted and have gotten a Presidential Scholarship, the Honors College would have sealed the deal for him, especially if he doesn’t get into any of the Ivy Schools (he’ll hear on Thursday). Unfortunately, it does not appear that he got into the Honors College. Now, he probably will take BU off his list since he was offered the Honors College at William and Mary and Brandeis’ version of their Honors College. He’s a bit concerned that he won’t feel challenged enough at BU without the Honors College. I’m not sure whether or not that’s true, but it’s his perception. I would love to hear Liz3J5’s stats to know what may have made the difference, although of course each case is different and there are so many ‘unknown’ variables as an Admissions Committee is making these decisions.

Congrats to everyone. There is a place where everyone will find the right ‘fit’ to make them happy and productive.

Just saw Liz3J5’s stats in a different thread. Mazel Tov, Liz! Your high levels of volunteerism, and especially your persistence I’m sure paid off! It helps to have a great interview with the head of the Honors Program. You certainly deserve this…way to go!

D also got Presidential Scholarship but not Honors College. Stats were good (2340 SAT, 35 ACT, both single sitting and 4.0 GPA). Lots of ECs, including varsity athletics, music, leadership, and probably 400+volunteer hours. Has done university-level research in both science and humanities at two different universities.

My dd got Honors College but it doesn’t mean a thing because there is no merit scholarship and the finaid doesn’t come close to EFC. She did the extra essays for Trustee and didn’t even score a consolation prize! :(

D received Presidential Scholarship and was accepted to the honors college. Her stats are :
ACT 33
4.0 uw
4.6 w
Valedictorian 1/385
12 AP’s
Was a varsity athlete, involved in student govt, part time job, many, many volunteer hours

didnt apply for any scholarship, so i was really surprised when BU gave me Presidential Scholarship.

stats are not fantastic, SAT 2290 in one-sitting, 790 W 760 M 740 CR, SAT II 800 for Math II, physics, chemistry, EC and rec are just normal, and i am international, really surprised,

Congratulations, ilovetbb. One does not have to apply for the Presidential Scholarship (as you now know). I think it’s based on being in the top 5% of the admitting class (or something similar…it mentions it on the BU website), so if you fall into that category, you automatically get it.

@DadinMass, oh thx, so i guess its based on sat scores of the admitted applicants. however, i didnt get into the honor college, so probably wont enroll if ucb accepts me. :(

I am confused by the Scholars who did not get Honors College, too. DS got both, and his stats are similar to ilovetlbb, though he has a lot of ECs, Nat’l awards, etc. I wonder if the discrepancies between PS and HC have something to do with creativity or a unique way of approaching problems or something like that, that came through in some students’ essays and not in others? DS wrote so many essays last fall that I don’t remember anything about the BU ones. (Was there something about Astronauts or something?) I wonder also if it is as simple as students forgetting to write the HC essay? I don’t know, but those would be my two top guesses. It seems curious. I’m going to look at the website and see if there are any clues there.

I got both the presidential scholarship (didn’t apply to the trustee because I figured I didn’t stand a chance) and admittance into the Kilachond Honors College. Looking at the stats of those who weren’t accepted to the Honors college, I’m stunned I got in - imo my essays were pretty dismal and my ECs are by no means fantastic (no leadership positions, but a fair amount of volunteer work & some international awards). I took classes at BU over the summer as part of one of their high school programs, so I’m sure that certainly helped.

Anyways, congrats to everyone! I’m very happy with my FA offer from BU and I’m currently kind of torn between Brandeis and BU - I’m not sure if I want to pass up the opportunity to be in the KHC.
