Presidential Scholarship

Is anyone applying for the TU Presidential Scholarship? I finished my essay and will be submitting the application this weekend. I applied at 6 schools, but as of now, TU is my first choice. I like the small class sizes and the direct interaction with the professors that TU affords. Of course, the size of the scholarship they will offer will be a key factor in deciding. I have already been offered free tuition at a couple of other schools.

Yes, I’ve applied for the scholarship as well! TU is also one of my top choices because of the small class size as well as the fact that they’re opening a med school in the town very soon. Have you heard back about the scholarship yet? I haven’t, but I suspect I’m supposed to within the next few days! So nervous!

@Dnarisse

Still waiting. I think you are right. We should hear very soon.

TU remains my first choice, so I am really hoping I get it. I have had mixed success with other schools I applied at:

UChicago Waitlisted
Vandy Waitlisted (just found out today)
Baylor Accepted and offered full ride scholarship

Good luck!

My daughter also applied for the Presidential scholarship and a large, thick envelope arrived in the mail today from Tulsa. (We live only two hours away in Northwest Arkansas.) My daughter is on a mission trip in Guatemala, however, and won’t let us open it before she gets home tomorrow afternoon. We are dying!

Hey, that’s awesome!! I agree I’ve had pretty mixed reviews. I’ve been accepted to everywhere that I applied (except Duke…which I find out about tonight, yikes) and have been offered 3 full rides and lots of almost full rides but none of the places call my name like TU does! I guess we’ll see pretty soon!

Wow, how exciting!!! I hope it’s good news!!! I live in Southwest Louisiana which is lime 8-9 hours away so I doubt I’ll get anything today but mail may not be delivered tomorrow because it’s Good Friday :frowning: I’m going to go crazy from all this waiting!

Do you mind sharing your stats for those who have posted they’re waiting?

Received my acceptance package today!

We are 1800 miles away…so no idea how long mail will take. Did anyone else receive an envelope?

My daughter is a National Merit Finalist, 34 ACT, 4.37 weighted GPA.

I got my acceptance about 30 minutes ago in the mail! Big, thick envelope like you guys said! I live about 500 miles away so depending on where you like I’m not sure when it’ll arrive for the rest of you! I have a 33 ACT and a weighted GPA of 4.24…not sure what other stats you want (:

Whilst enjoying the latter part of my Spring Break at home, the postman rang our doorbell. He was holding a large envelope that was too big for our mailbox. The envelope contained my Presidential scholarship offer. Very happy in Kansas City!

Yay!!! Congratulations to all!!!

Still waiting in the pacific northwest…either it is a no, or it is a yes but the mail takes longer to get here. Does anyone know if they notify folks at the same time who do NOT get the scholarship?

Not sure, but they didn’t notify me at all. I only received the package in the mail, no emails or anything else like that so don’t lose hope!!!

My D got it y’day and we are in CA. Heard 35-40 students are awarded.

For all: whether you did or didn’t receive the scholarship, has anyone chosen TU as where they’re attending? I sure have!

My D will be attending TU in the Fall. She didn’t apply for the Presidential, but got a nice $30k/year Vision Scholarship + acceptance into the Honors program. We’re excited about TU, and I just got my first box of TU gear from Fanatics.com.

I related her college decision process in one of the threads on the Parents forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19531468/#Comment_19531468

sorry I am very late to this discussion! Just curious for those who applied to the presidential and did or did not get it. do you have any idea why you did/did not get it? I know it is very competitive. Feel free to private message me if you prefer. Just curious b/c my statistics are virtually identical to those who did get it. Just wondering if my sibling who is younger and very bright should try another tactic to try to get the Presidential. I had a 4.7 GPA, 34 ACT, lots of EC’s and many AP classes with all 4-5"s. Thanks for any insight you may have!
