Presidential scholarship?

Hey,
Just found out that BC mailed in their presidential scholarship letters on Tuesday. I want to know who gets them. I am definitely NOT one of them.

how'd you find out? called in?

Yeah they were mailed out Tuesday, I got an e-mail saying that was the case and that unfortunately I was not selected. Looks like BC is no longer an option...

Was the e-mail sent to everyone? I saw something on BC's website that said something about a problem with yahoo email addresses. Were semi-finalists notified by email before letters were sent out?

i talked to an admission counselor. lets see who gets selected.

cozeanw, how and why did you get an email?

I don't think he knows "how and why."

so they randomly decided to send one person an email telling them their status with his asking?

I had talked to one of the admissions people ealier in the week. They must have just wanted to give me a heads up? I don't think there was anything special about it

Admissions can't tell you on the phone if you are being considered. I spoke with them today.

i would imagine you'd have to have been admitted into the honors program to even have a chance? i guess since that would be the top 5%, everyone in it has about a 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 chance of being invited to interview?

So if we already got our acceptance letter does that mean we are not getting scholarship because they are sending it sepearately?

no. it means that they send them separately. so you got your acceptance letter, and then this week you'll get your letter scholo. letter

They said the top 1/2 % of applicants

so...i have a 1 in 10 chance.

actually those numbers don't work. .5% of applicants (i'm assuming they took around the 2,358 EA they took last year) would make it 12 people invited, and there are typically 15 P.S. all together. They generally invite 60 people to interview i read, which makes it around 2.5%

double post.

maybe they save some for RA

No, all Presidential Scholarships go to EA students. The invited kids travel (expenses paid) to BC in February for interviews, etc.

"Please note: Invitations to interview for the Presidential Scholars Program will be mailed under separate cover the week of December 18th."

Anyone get an invitation yet?
