She is a current student. She lives in Denton right now. It does not have A/C as you say but its been a good place for her. Almost all the kids in the dorm are freshman, honors with a few upper classmen mixed in. So there is a lot in common right from the get go.
Her room is light and airy and the window views a picture perfect campus setting. The kids keep their doors open and socialize with one another.
Each floor has a lounge with microwave and place to study. The rooms are equipped with (1 per student) desk, bed and dresser. And a decent size closet per student.
It was a good place for her to meet, greet and socialize (They have floor meetings and some get togethers) but next year she will be moving to a different, quieter dorm.
Its a tough haul to alot of classes from there..but its close to the gym, and the sports arena.

How smart of you to apply to the global communities ..indeed I do understand the dorm is nicer, plus you will benefit from the experience!

That's good to hear about the Denton dorms, considering that's probably where I'll be living next year. I can deal with no A/C, I was going to bring a fan anyway because I can't go to sleep without a fan on. Yeah, I'm weird like that =)

I have to suggest a VORNADO fan. A little pricey..but well worth it. She said it kept her room much nicer than the fans in other rooms.
We got the one on the stand and it really made her room much more comfortable.
The Dorm does get its share of partying.(or maybe kids returning from parties). She had a person walk into her room unexpectedly in drunken shape...(her door was open and they apologized the next day) She is a pretty quiet, studious type so this was all new to her -but she took it in stride.
Also the dorm is done by wings..men one side, women on the other..but either can have overnight visitors which was a shocker to me..but fortunately this has not been a problem. Bathrooms are NOT unisex so that helps.
Yes its cinder block walls and no carpet, not at all posh for sure. But it can be made homey and the light is good in the building. When she checked out other buildings to move too..she said that Denton was one of the nicer dorms on campus.
However she is ready to move on, and got into one of the smaller honors units for next year.
Denton has a really pretty exterior and is right across from the Clarice Smith performing arts center..and near the fabulous comcast center..it is a hop to classes though..
You will enjoy being there with others in honors!

i cant go to sleep without a fan on either! even in the winter i just turn the fan away because the hum sings me to sleep :)

Me too! Actually, my entire family does. It's kind of amusing.
