In the past, does anyone know if the invitation to apply has come with acceptance letters, or as a separate notification?

Thanks!

Thanks!

or, perhaps a better question, did people get notified of finalist status already this year?

i believe it comes separately but its gonna be really tough this year....im a recruited athlete for tennis but with my stats adn essays and extracurriculars and stuff i was pretty sure i would be a finalist this year....the coach already told me im not a finalist....dont get your hopes up

the school's website says that are sending out interview notifications on thursday december 18

wait how do you come upon being a presidential scholarship finalist? did you have to do anything extra?

when the admissions committee viewed your application they selected the students they considered would be good for it. you dont need to do anything extra

But it's like the equivalent of getting into HYPS, almost all of the Presidential Scholars (they only select 15 per year) have SAT's of 2250+, 4.0's, and are in the top 1-3% of their graduating class, it's pretty tough.

ok so i dont have to worry about this then haha

well im 2280, with 4.0(4.9 weighted), valedictorian, good ecs and essays and im not a finalist so u have to do more......basically theyre looking for people that can win them rhodes and fulbright after graduation

A friend of my brother (both of whom were accepted two years ago) received a presidential scholarship. Basically, you have to really deserve it, and, more importantly, need it. It also helps if you have something that stands out, such as if you're part of a minority.

I thought that the Presidential Scholarship was their only scholarship that was based only on merit, not need?

also, what is UPS Ground? is that normal mail? or UPS?

Sorry to keep asking ... I know that it is a super long-shot.

You all are a little confused here.

The Presidential Scholarship is basically a contest by invitation only. Yes, SAT scores are one factor that is looked at but there are other factors as well (community service, character, EC's) etc. It's basically applicants who they consider to be at least in the top 5% of the EA applicant pool.

Those accepted into the Honors Program during Early Admission Round who they feel are competetive in the pool are asked to enter the so-called contest. These are usually the students who they feel would be competetive at the most highly selective colleges. Those that all invited will go to BC (all expenses paid) for 3 days in February where you will go through a series of interviews, write an essay or two, and be wined and dined. After the weekend a decision is made on who will be chosen. It is usually somewhere between 15-18 students who will be offered the scholarship. It is a merit scholarship not based on need however if the scholarship does not meet your full need they guarantee to meet it. From my knowledge this is what has happened in the past.

Most of this info is on the website. This year's schedule:

got a mail today notifying me of an interview in feb for the presidential scholarship.
