Does anyone know if the offer of a presidential scholarship be included in the admission letter?

last year it came 2 days later

i got my offer with my admission packet. i really makes my college decision a lot harder now.

I logged onto the link in the email we got today and saw my presidential scholarship! Good luck!

So, if we didn’t get that e-mail…we didn’t receive any merit aid?

@golden: hopefully not. they could be sending them out in waves so only those who got the presidential scholarships received the e-mail. that’s what i’m hoping at least.

Possibly…and once we get our packets we should know for sure if we received any sort of aid.

actually i received my packet today. in my packet they told me of my presidential scholarship offer, but the regular financial aid (need based and regular grants) should come through e-mail. i have not yet received any such e-mail. so don’t worry about it. i got my packet and scholarship and no finaid email.

mahomushi68 – congratulations to you ! Would you mind posting your stats? Thank you.

Getting a merit scholarship would really help convince my parents to let me go to GW. Please GW…?

@mahomushi68: impressive, I must say Congratulations! I was wondering, since you got a Presidential scholarship, did you also get a Board of Trustees one (from the email)? I haven’t received a package just yet so I don’t know if they offer both to one student.

What is the value of the Presidential scholarship?

thanks theinsomniac. no i can’t say i know anything about a board of trustees scholarship, but congratulations on receiving one. i was awarded a presidential scholarship and some need based aid.i must say it really does make my decision quite a bit more difficult.

it seems like the value of the scholarship can vary. the website lists it as 15k, but i got 20k and a friend of mine got 30k. then again i’m not sure if his 30k was just scholarship or included any loans. all i can say is mine is 20k/ year

My daughter got the Presidential for $20,000 as well and we got no need based aid. We found out in an email and are still waiting for the packet to come in the mail. We could not have afforded to send her to GWU without the scholarship but now it looks like it has become her number one choice. From what I remember from last year the Trustees scholarship combines merit and need and that may be the one that totals $30,000. Good luck to everyone!

Saf - when did GWU send the email? Congrats !

Then I guess I will most likely not get a Presidential Scholarship, but that’s okay. Whatever I got, I’m thankful for and suffices.

@ mema: I know I’m not Saf but I’ll answer your question anyway. I got the e-mail on 4/1, around 6:56 am. It says 2010-2011 GWU Notification of Financial Assistance.

mine is $20k a year also

So wait you guys heard about the presidential scholarships in the financial aid e-mail? When I called financial aid they told me that merit scholarships weren’t listed in there.
