Wow. We are hopeful for some money. We are OOS so it is just too expensive without any merit aid. My DD has not heard anything yet but we are keeping our fingers crossed!
My S got President’s Scholarship for $12,000/yr. OOS, 35 ACT, 4.76 GPA. It came in the mail yesterday.
$8,000 a year Presidents Scholarship in mail today… OOS, 2160 SAT, 4.30 UW GPA
So they just tweeted that all Pres/Dean scholarship letters were mailed 2/25. S didn’t get one so farewell, UMD…
I just saw the response tweet. Good luck on finding the right choice for your son. I’m sure you’ll find a good financial fit.
@s16s18s21s25 – Thank you for posting the update. My DD did not get one either. I liked UMD but just too pricey out of state. Good luck to your son!
Any In-state candidate received President’s or Dean’s scholarship. Curious to see mostly OOS who have received it.
Haven’t yet heard of any one in-state ( either in this forum or otherwise)
Yes, check on page 2 on this thread.
My child received the President’s Scholarship ($5K/year), In State, 2310 SAT, 4.71 weighted gpa, a lot of ECs. Arrived in the mail on 2/26.
I contacted Admissions, all Presidential and Deans Scholarships were sent out February 25. They said “This year’s applicant pool was the most competitive in Maryland’s history, and unfortunately we were not able to offer scholarships to many high achieving students.”
My daughter received President Scholarship ($5K/yr for 4 years) letter in the mail today dated March 8th so apparently they are sending out some later notices. The letter stated that Fall 2016 entering class is the most talented in the history of UMD.
She is in state, 34 ACT, 4.6 weighted GPA, good ECs (volunteer awards, research internship, varsity sport and coaching).
Same as Lex2727 above. Almost exact same stats/profile. Letter arrived today dated 3/8. We only live about 25 miles from Maryland so I imagine it was mailed out Friday. So I would think that folks that live farther away could still be getting them. Now if we could just get her to go!!
Received presidential scholarship letter today dated 3/8 also.
It’s nice to see there is a 2nd round of notifications.
Just got the letter yesterday for President Scholarship, half tuition. In state, 29 ACT, 3. 9 GPA, also accepted to Honors College
@maryversity or anyone with experience- My son has received merit aid from other schools such as RPI and Rochester etc., but did not get anything from Maryland. Do you think UMD would offer any aid if we asked based on merit from other schools or do you think it would not matter? Also, do you know when the financial aid packets come out? We are ready to make decisions but need all of the facts. When we tried to log in to look at aid, it asked us for an ID of some sort, but we assumed this was created once you accepted. We won’t know for sure until we see aid. Thanks for your help!
No, you can create the ID without accepting the offer–we did. It still says the FA file is under review.
I received my presidential scholarship (half off tuition) in the mail two days ago. It was post marked on march 8.
@Udmom2, unfortunately, there is no matching of scholarships to awards from other schools. Maryland is a public university and does not have funding anywhere near private institutions. Both RPI and Rochester are private. Even comparing public university to public university, Maryland will not match scholarship money. I don’t know when financial aid info will be available but it will be sometime soon (prob April) so that you will have all the financial information available when making your decision of what school to commit to for the May 1 commit deadline.
I got the FA email and there is nothing under “awards.” Does that mean no FA or does it also mean no merit award?
