My D has received a couple of invites to great programs. Yeah! Some are asking her to accept before she hears back from all her schools. Thoughts? These would be good choices if her others are a “no” Any protocol?
Congratulations! This question comes up frequently! Do not feel pressured to accept until the process plays out. The schools cannot require you to accept prior to May 1. My S was getting some pressure his year to accept (he’d had one offer since December). He would thank the school official for their interest, reiterate his interest, but state he was not in a position to make a final decision until he had heard back from all his schools and had a complete financial aid/scholarship picture. Some of the so-called top programs are the latest to notify!
You are not required to make any decisions before May 1st. But, if any of the programs is a for sure “no”- best to let them know asap so they can offer up a spot to someone on the waiting list.
I agree - but only if it is a for sure no. Which, at this point, is probably unlikely unless you have your definite yes as well! I think keeping options open is the way to go, unless you are 100% for sure already. It is the rare case that is already set to commit without receiving the majority of decisions and financial info. And the schools know this.
@artskids -I sent you a PM
