How prestigious is Columbia Engineering from Fu SEAS(not only ratings-wise, but how respectable is it) ???? Just wondering...meh

Columbia is a respectable school.

Oyrgh, not another "Is Columbia Prestigious?" thread.

if i attend next year, it's prestigious, but if i don't, it won't be.

thethoughtprocess - That's so wierd...it's the same thing for me too!

Haha, thomaschau, I was thinking the same thing when I read this.

I think that it's sort of weird that there are really so many of these "Is Columbia Prestigious?" threads when Columbia consistently is ranked as in the top 20 of unis on college lists (usually in the top 10 or some even top 5), which would by definition make it a pretty prestigious school. I mean, unless you start completely relying on how good people think the program you studied is, Columbia is not the sort of school that should have you wondering about its "prestigiousness." Perhaps Columbia's FFSEAS is no "mini MIT," but it's pretty damn good and can probably offer you many research and employment opportunities similar to what you might get from MIT.

good point lucifersam, but then again, we're talking about SEAS.

There's is always that ignorant underlying perception of SEAS among engineering school.

Well, I say it's just a compatibility disagreement. Prestige wouldn't matter if you college doesn't match you. And if a person is MAINLY searching for prestige when applying, the shallowness is not going to help when you are "stuck" four years in a college that doens't have all the glamour.

rpproductions1987, I had the same "meh" (my favorite word in the world!) curiousity like you a LONG time ago, but if you are still interested, try looking back into the old archives.
