When evaluating students for medical, law,or graduate school, the whole student is looked at not just the school. I don't even care about the major-it is what you do with it and how.

I can't tell you how many 4.0s from Harvard made it to the bottom of the pile simply because they rested on their laurels and not much else. I have seen 3.6 from State U. rise to the top because they have made the most of their educational experience and the educational opportunities afforded them. There are very bright kids out there who simply do not have the legacy/sport/hook/money connection to go to an Ivy. They are no less brilliant. They make the most with what they are offered. Many become Rhodes Scholars. I believe two gentlemen from city college of New York were among them this year.

To all students-if you do not go to an IVY school you are not a failure. Make the most at any university you choose to attend and you will wind up on top. And no- I am not sour grapes. I have gone to both Ivy and state schools and have seen poor students on all levels. But I have also seen intelligent, motivated students at both institutions.

Whatever school you attend, if prestige is your thing, enjoy it-but if you rely only on name, just hang your diploma in a prominent place-you'll have a lot of free time to admire it.

Alexandre, how would Wake Foest rate in your "bracketing system"?? Just curious. It is a wonderful, academic school. Just because they have big basketball, does not mean the acedemics are not top-notch. Thanks.

NJmom, I do not really bracket schools, I simply use a modified version of the Peer assessment score. Wake would fall in the same category as Tufts and BC.

Sorbonne is part of the University of Paris. The University of Paris is made up of many campuses, each one with its own #. Sorbonne is the University of Paris 1-4...I believe.
