What are some contests/awards that colleges consider prestigious?

Siemens-Westinghouse
Intel Science Talent Search
If you won the Ayn Rand Essay Contest, I would consider that prestigious (can anyone verify?)
USAMO but IMO would be a hook (or any of the major international olympiads, physics, chemistry, or biology)
National Sports Championships (Jr. Amateur Golf Championships? Can someone else verify this for me?)
And of course some others, although these are the ones that come to mind. Keep in mind only a select few ever win these events.

If you win the national junior amateur golf tournament, you can basically go anywhere you want because you will be considered the top recruit in the nation.

National Forensics League speech contests.
- colleges love speech and debate champs.

yea dude, even a siemens westinghouse semifinalist or intel STS commended would look good...as in seriously good...as in MIT good...so do some research and go for it baby!

Are there any that are more towards the humanities/art path?
