What are some of America's premier essay/creative writing contests?

Are there any excellent economics contests as well?

Just two of my passions, so any info would be great!

I know theres a pretty big national ayn rand one, I dont know how prestigious it is.

PShap, the highschool essay contest deadline for Ayn Rand was almost two months ago!

It was in march for me (Anthem-9th/10th grade), I was required to do it for Classwork, hopefully I get some money. xD. jk.

Um, other than that...I've heard of the National peace essay Contest, JFK high school essay contest...

not sure how prestigious they are.

I believe they're worth trying for if you are interested in them, and not just because of prestige (they seem to take quite a bit of research/effort and it would be boring as hell if you really didn't want to do it).

Creative Writing (sometimes essays, sometimes not):

The Kenyon Review—Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers
English Department | Writing Program
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Okay thanks, guys...I'll have a look at these and its because I'm interested in them. Not big on poetry and the sciences (but I have a linguistics project I like that I'm thinking about putting in for intel/siemens) but love the politics/maths (less then the others)/essay writing and economics...

Any for economics? I doubt it but you never know...

I love the National Peace one particularly, so I'm certainly registering for that and I'll register for the others for next year (too late for many :( unfortunately)

Btw, is the question for the Ayn Rand same every year?

the holocaust remembrance project is a rather large one, quite "prestigious" i guess
