Hello! So I would like to apply for college as a Classics major, and I’m looking for the most prestigious summer programs that fit that field somewhat. Not necessarily looking for something classics-related. Open to writing/linguistics/language programs too. Also, are there any programs that only last 6 weeks? I’m really trying hard to be able to fit the National JCL convention into my summer plans, and that’s the last week of July (24-29). Free programs would be preferable, but my backup will probably be doing summer classes at my state school and just getting a job haha

The programs that are highly prestigious/competitive tend to be in STEM subjects.
You can look for programs in the humanities on mysummeradvisor.com and look search under the various academic subjects. You will find many short programs (1-3 weeks).
In terms of your college application, summer classes and a job are probably just as worthwhile. However, you may see a program that really interests you and that can be worthwhile too. There is at least one in linguistics, specifically - a fascinating subject that you haven’t likely learned anything about. There are some free travel-abroad programs in foreign languages. There are lots and lots of writing programs. Look for ones at well known liberal arts schools. If you are interested in a specific college, look at their programs. Spending time on campus is worthwhile, because you will know if you really like the school or not.
