Prestigious LAC vs Prestigious In-State for Econ/Gov

@Eeyore123 haha yeah it’s been crazy… what goes down will always come back up at some point eventually.

Fair assumption. I guess I should outline in more detail reasons I believe it’s worth the investment at option 1. Please don’t hesitate to tear holes in these (as that’s what I’m here for).

  1. Option one puts me in an academic environment I believe I am more likely to thrive in. The small class sizes and proximity to professors is something I’ve realized that engages me far more than the contrary. UT’s considerable size is something that has pushed me away, and I was unfortunately rejected from the honors college. I do see somewhat how size can be a pro, but haven’t been fully sold on that yet.
  2. Strength in my desired programs as well as more fulfilling and meaningful work. In the areas I hope to study, option 1 thrives and offers many attractive grants, fellowships, and real-world study programs that are lacking from option 2.
  3. Students at option 1 report some of the highest quality of student life in the nation. While this might be a weaker point than the others, I think it is telling. This intertwines with the school’s emphasis on collaboration as opposed to competition.
