prestigious schools that are very friendly to transfers

judging from this website, compared to the difficulty of freshman admissions of Rice, its transfer admissions are much easier. For freshman, Rice has like 22 percent admissions rate and 1450 SAT average for enrolled students. It seems that they generally admit many ppl as transfers. Even though Rice has such high standards for admissions, I still would never say it is as selective as Duke or Columbia or Dartmoth just b/c one can get into Rice much easier out of state.

Actually, they are not at all easy per say, but the % of transfers Amherst and Swarthmore accepted these past couple of years is similar to the % of freshman they accept. Duke is also not very different for transfers than for freshman.

32% for Barnard still is better than for freshman, and not all that bad if you are a strong candidate.

escape, Duke took like less than 10 percent of transfers last year....i think that is prettty dam low of a rate

Is a 3.73 with two upper level courses (5 courses total) a 730/620 (math)/740 president of political group intern for a senator, strong recs, excellent essays, a "strong candidate" for Barnard?
I would die happy if I got in there.

um, i think ur in buddy

where did u get ur 3.73 though, is it at a community college, it really matters

At University of Vermont.

Are you serious you think I'll get in? I'm sitting in a cafe working on my essays, and a huge Cheshire cat smile just broke out over my face and people are looking at me wierd now. I'm in love with Barnard, I want to marry it.

I think you'll get in too. Why in the WORLD would you think it would be easier for you to get into Princeton than Barnard? You have all the qualifications for Barnard.

bball... oops... I guess the number I had for Duke was just 2004.

haha i think you missed the point that this person is missing a very important qualification for barnard and that is that he is a he and not a she

otherwise yes princeton would be harder to get into

i have a 3.84 gpa at a top 25 lac and pretty good hs credentials. i want to apply to w&m and one or two more, but i really cant decide. does anyone have any suggestions? i was thinking georgetown or tufts...i want a medium to small sized school.

xLxJxCx

You are a lock at W&M

I'm fairly certain you'll get into Georgetown and Tufts too.

Have you considered UVA?

thanks!! ummm ive sorta thought about uva...but the rumors have gotten to me and now it kinda scares me haha.

what kind of rumors?

no no, scarfmadness, i am a she. i post in the barnard forum too.

Not top 50 schools, but some non ivy league but very good schools are transfer friend. Beloit and Knox come to mind.

jaek99,

im not that big of a party person...like drunk, huge football players all over the place dont appeal to me haha. but umm yeah ive just heard its a lot of crazy partying and annoying rich girls and adderal addictions. though im sure tufts and georgetown have that as well, at least they're smaller

I spent the majority of my earlier youth drinking and partying nearly every night away . I have entered a focus chapter in my life and intend to fully focus on my studies. At any university, you can and will find groups of people that are into a variety of activities whether it be studying or drinking - though UVA may have a reputation for being a "party school", it does not mean YOU have to join in. If you don't want drink and go out - stay in. You will not only face this decision during your postsecondary educational years, you will also deal with this throughout your 20s and 30s. People will always want to drink and party. If you don't, just don't do it - i don't understand what all the fuss is.

for shaganov, you may be a she but safetskool, the original poster, must be a he, and he is the one who thinks princeton would be easier for him to get into than barnard.
