Well, good luck wherever you end up!

is tufts really as difficult as ppl say, because they are trying to end their ivy backup reputation. Their SAT scores are higher than alot of the ivies. Idk if they have greek life or not either.

Which brings to mind...are there any non greek schools that are still considered party schools?

According to collegeresults.org, the estimated median SAT score at Tufts is 1405. Among the Ivies, only Cornell, 1385, is lower.

There's something odd about Tufts 25th-75th percentiles. They're about 70 apart. Usually, they're about 100 apart (as in the case of Stanford, Harvard, Northwestern, etc.).

yea i think the closeness was what I was thinking about, my bad

Tufts kids are Ivy League caliber kids, who just didn't end up there.

"I think that there are fewer 4.0s than one would think. However, the preponderance of As is also, probably, a result of the strength of the student body."

while thats true slightly, the main reason of the flood of A's is grade inflation, which has been a very well researched phenomenon at Harvard. It's common knowledge and the Harvard Adcoms and students will prob admit it too, but no one cares because its still Harvard, and even if they gave EVERYONE a A for just living, its still Harvard, and thus will never become academically inferior.

Dartmouth is DEFINITELY A SLACKER SCHOOL......they only take 3 classes a semester...on the D plan. They spend MORE time playing in the snow than going to classes.

BOGUS.

Hard to get into, easy once you are there, and then riding on the prestige after that.

Tufts? Hard working from what I hear.

In defense of Dartmouth, those three classes are taken more often than four a semester would be. But I have to agree that Darmouth has a reputation as the jock Ivy.

And I agree about Tufts. They want global citizens in their classrooms and the student body reflects that.

and its WELL KNOWN that Ivy League schools have horrendous grade INFLATION.......its insidious. And a lot of second tier schools have grade DEFLATION...big time. B.U. is NOT alone in that regard.

Princeton is four. Most schools are five.

Yes, Dartmouth has short semesters....but its bogus.

My source? Dartmouth students, of course! They laugh about the work load. One said, "I am majoring in snowballs."

Some schools are party schools...like Furman and Washington and Lee, where sorority and fraternity life are more involved than studying.

Some schools are academic schools.

dartmouth is sounding pretty sweet i must say

friedokra, i meant are there party schools that do not have greeks

friedokra, Furman - a party school ... that's the funniest thing I hav ever read on this board. Sorry while I LOL

Check out a book called something like "Cool Colleges". It has reviews from students with this information. It was in my school library in the reference section.
