prestigious undergraduate uni needed?????

currently going to a small very competitive liberal arts college, thinking if I transfer to a less prestigious one (still a good school) I could get a better GPA and increase my chances on getting into med school? How do Med Schools view prestigious undergrad vs. competitive but less prestigious undergrad??

How is your GPA looking right now? Prestige isn’t a huge deal, but they do look at the competitiveness as a factor (i.e. a 3.6 at a hard uni isn’t necessarily worse than a 3.75 at a easier one). A even bigger factor that you should consider is that transfering means that you will have to start over in terms of research, community service, leadership, and other things. This can be a killer depending on when you transfer and when you intend to apply.

thanks for the reply, im a freshman, its just a concern for the future. my question also deals with classes difficulty at hard schools compared to slightly easier ones… and with how exaclty to medical schools look upon different levels of colleges? im looking at still around the same level college (to transfer to) but just a little less competitive

You might find out that it isn’t. Often times easier universities curve on a lower letter grade. I would try to re-evaluate your study habits before re-evaluating your university choice.
