I'm not nearly as good of a student as most of the people here, and unlike in a lot of threads where i see that I actually mean it. Here we go...

School: I go to very tough college prep school, where all of my classes are honors.
GPA: Probably my weakest part UW 2.35 W 2.6
Grades: My GPA is probably pretty bad because my freshman year grades were garbage, but I turned around pretty good in 10th grade and 11th grade I made out with Bs and Cs. I did however get one D+ last semester for spanish 3.

ECs: I was on varsity bowling 9th and 11th grade.
I play guitar

Volunteer: I have 200 service hours I've gotten this summer with a local crisis center and an ambulance service.

Test scores: 25 on SAT

As far as essays and recs go I'm a pretty good writer and can probably get them good. I am on great terms with about 3 teachers at my school that will write me pretty good recs.

Schools:
Endicott College
University of Hartford
High Point University
Hofstra University
Marist College
Pace University
Quinnipiac University
Saint Anselm College
Southern New Hampshire University
Stonehill College(some kids from my school got in with same stats as me)
Suffolk University(same as above)
Wagner College
Western New England College

Sorry for the long list, feel free to only chance some of them. Also if you guys have any suggestions to make me a little stronger for the admission game please tell me.

Also thanks, and I'll promise to chance back.

Doesn’t really count, but chanced anyway.

I don’t know much about chancing someone, but I was impressed by this…

Volunteer: I have 200 service hours I’ve gotten this summer with a local crisis center and an ambulance service.

That’s essentially a half-time summer job. And it’s all volunteer with some great organizations.

Even without stellar qualifications, I hope someone gives you a chance. You’re deserving.

thanks man, I hope the same thing lol.

Well I have no idea abt those schools too, except for Saint Alsem. I’m applying to it next yr too, so good luck :)

ok, i’m not familiar w/ any of these schools, (cept hofstra) so this is all princeton review+ my judgement… and i’m assuming that 25 is the act… sometimes I don’t really make sense, so feel free to ask if you need clarification

Endicott College- heard nothing bout, sorry =(
University of Hartford- heard nothing bout, sorry =(
High Point University- heard nothing bout, sorry =(
Hofstra University- small reach, but w/ 200 hours, you might get a boost
Marist College- same as hofstra, small reach
Pace University- heard nothing bout, sorry =(
Quinnipiac University-very small reach, (prepare for my jumbled response =) ): according to princeton review, the gpa is second to rigor, which definately helps, esp. considering your school…and the apps. essay is weighted rather similarly to gpa , so major boost there

Saint Anselm College-small reach
Stonehill College(some kids from my school got in with same stats as me)
Suffolk University(same as above)- match:
your ACT is above average, and the avg. GPA is just a notch above yours (2.95), but the most important factor seems to be rigor, so that’s a major boost…
Wagner College-reach

In short, I can garuntee you will definitively get into one college

chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/757963-chance-me-yep-another-one.html

Okay, well I know most schools don’t look at freshman grades–not sure how that factors into GPA though. Your volunteering is impressive. Just remember to have good essays and recs. Pretty sure you can get into one.
Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/758536-chance-me-these-questbridge-schools.html

actually im from around here.

quinnipac - IN - my bf had applying there with a 30 on act but he was pres. of stu government for 2 years… but nearly the same volunteer hrs as you… so im guessing you will be great…theyre into volunteering
same with Hofstra University…

but that’s all i can say… i don’t wanna bs with you… were in pretty much the same boat. =]
good luck…

Stonehill - could be a good match - is SAT/ACT optional and looks at volunteer work closely - they have The House of Possibilities right on campus, hence focusing on what you can bring to the campus, especially with your course rigor, volunteer hours and express genuine interest - it is a lovely school.

Pace - match

Hofstra - match

Quinniapiac - admissions standards have been a bit more selective, but still a high match

Good luck (sorry do not know about the others)!!

Make sure your recommendations are stellar, and include any and all volunteer/service hours, awards, etc.

Western New England - match

Saint Anselm - appears to be more selective, may ask for a parent essay on what they feel you can bring to the campus - but be sure you look into their grade deflation…it can be extremely difficult to garner high grades there with the grading policy.

grades aren’t everything, and you’ve obviously contributed to society which i like and applaud you for.

I’m not familiar with some schools, but for most you have good chances. Stonehill’s pretty tough though so I dunno
