Pretty Late But...Chance Me for My Schools!

Hi! I’ve applied to numerous schools already and have five more. But, it would be awesome if I could shrink the list of remaining colleges now. Thank you!

Colleges I Applied To!
Brown, Binghamton, geneseo, brandeis, CMC (top!), fordham, NYU, northeastern (top!), UMiami, USC, UVM(accepted!), UCs (Irvine, Davis, LA, SB)

Colleges Left To Apply To!
Yale, Princeton, Washu, Rice and Pomona

So, let me know what you think my chances would be for those schools or if I should add any last minute! Also, I took off Emory and I was wondering if I should bring it back. My list is extremely long because I receive fee waivers for everything! Thank you for your time

The California UC’s are not going to be affordable as an OOS applicant since they offer little to no financial aid so expect full fees at $65K/year if accepted. You have alot going for you as an applicant and you can be competitive for many schools.
You woukd have been better off applying to some California privates schools such as Occidental and Claremont colleges which would be more financially feasible and appreciate your diversity.

Best of luck

The UCs are expensive for OOS-not a good idea for you to apply there as they don’t give aid to OOS and your present circumstances make them unaffordable.

Though it seems like a reach, WashU might be one of your targets since they are planning to diversify socioeconomically. You did visit and that is a good sign of interest. But make sure that you fit in since a large number of students are from extremely wealthy households.

At this time you have an acceptance and that’s good. I would cut back on the reach schools even with fee waivers.

Claremont McKenna for Bio doesn’t seem like the greatest idea even though you can take classes from the Claremont consortium. Pomona is a better fit for the sciences. Plus CMC runs relatively conservative compared to most schools.

Also most of the schools on your list will be expensive. Did you try to match via QB?

I made the worst mistake by not applying to QB because I was rejected as a CPS and they didn’t have Northeastern when it was my number one school. But, I try not to limit myself when it comes to finances because I know things will work out at the end of the day (may not be the most realistic outlook but you gotta aim high when you’re low income) . So, I shot for whichever schools I liked and I’ve applied to a couple of outside scholarships already. Hopefully, I’m lucky and get enough money to afford the expensive schools I’ve applied to. Thank you so much for your feedback though, it was very helpful!

Thank you! I really appreciate your response! The two Claremont schools I’m interested in are CMC and Pomona and I haven’t looked much into Occidental but I applied to USC because they have pretty good financial aid! But, yes, I have been told not to apply to the UCs although I’ve applied to a couple outside scholarships and have more on my list that I hope I’ll receive enough to afford those schools. Thanks again
