Pretty much no chance at med school?

So I am enrolled in the engineering program at my school and I wasn't thinking and overloaded myself with 19 credit hours this semester. I just got my grades back and I got a 2.7 gpa.. are my med school chances shot?

Are you a freshman? Then they are not shot, but you need to learn from your error, a GPA above 3.5 will make the med school process much simpler and the higher above 3.5 the better!

Mix up your classes so you are not overloaded with intense math/science, lower your units so you can focus on each class. There are just some GPA floors that are hard to overcome, so why shoot yourself in the foot. Being an engineering major in itself is going to be tough as those majors have a lot of tough classes with a lot of intense smart competition. Even just getting a few A-/B+ grades can drag you down to a 3.5, so stay on it and take it one term at a time. A continual improvement never hurts your overall profile!
