<p>I am opening a checking account very soon (for obvious reasons), but I currently live in Ohio, so I was simply wondering if anyone knows which banks are most prevalent in/around NYU so I could open one from those banks (in order to avoid constant extra fees).</p>

<p>Citibank, Chase Manhattan, and Washington Mutual all offer free checking accounts to students and all have locations on or around campus.</p>
<p>there's an HSBC around the campus area, i believe. i just opened my own.</p>
<p>Citibank is very good tho :P (got a relative that works for Citigroup...probalby would have gone with citibank if the location was better)</p>
