Preventing the flu

So I don't know how similar this situation is to other colleges, but basically they ran out of flu shots and the majority of us are unvaccinated. One of my best friends and her roommate have it now and i'm wondering is there any way to prevent it?

Or are most of you guys pretty much sure you're gonna have to miss classes. I can already feel a slight cough which I hope is nothing worse than a cold but i'm supposed to take my sick friend to the city tomorrow (close proximity etc..) and it's a good chance I might get the flu at one point or another.

Maybe a combo of vitamin C pills and airborne could work, i've been washing my hands pretty regularly but I suppose it's the inevitable. Any tips to stay healthy?
If what i have now is nothing, I want to try and improve my eating for a while.

wash hands, use alcohol based hand sanitizer, try to avoid touching objects that are touched by many people, try to avoid touching your eyes/nose/mouth during the day

no need to be a germaphobe, just cut out some potential virus transmission.

Sleep is much more effective in strengthening your immune system than any vitamin you could take. I haven’t read numbers on the flu, but Wikipedia says that people who get 7 or less hours of sleep are three times as likely to develop a cold when exposed to the virus as people who get 8 or more hours of sleep.

The flu virus is primarily transmitted by breathing in respiratory droplets in the air. Washing hands will be of limited usefulness when you are breathing the same air as a flu victim.

^ I’ll be in the car with one for over an hour. Suppose I should go to bed ASAP. :P

Thats how mine started… and guess what? I missed an entiire week of class -_- at least i’m feeling better now… now if only this cough would go away~
