I'm currently a junior in high school and I've recently been looking through colleges to get a head start on things. My overall goal is to become a veterinary surgeon and to do that, I know that I need a background in sciences, and that prevet is something that looks good when applying to vet school. So far for a small list of schools I have unh, Cornell, Clemson, and St. Andrews. I am also looking for something that has an equestrian program. My mom would like me somewhere close by (I live in mass) but me personally I'd like a little bit of distance. Any experience about internships, good schools, and what it's like is greatly appreciated.

Since vet school is going to cost you at least $200,000 (since there is no public vet school in Mass.), you probably need to do what pre-med students do and focus on finding your least expensive option for undergrad. Unless you are wealthy of course
Re: distance - this is totally a state of mind. I went to college 15 minutes away from home but it seemed like a world away. Except I had the advantage of coming home for a nice Sunday dinner if I really wanted to Don’t lose sight of your main goals by getting sidetracked by issues like this. UMass Amherst is a very good school.
What did you mean by equestrian program? A sport or an academic program?
Here is a suggestion you might not have considered - pre-vet program at WPI. They have a relationship with Tufts Veterinary School which is nearby. You can major in most anything as long as you fulfill the program requirements for bio, chem, physics, math etc. It is expensive though, but if you are a high-achieving female they can be generous with merit scholarships. You didn’t mention if you qualify for FA.

By equestrian program I mean somewhere that has an equestrian team, or stables close by so I could keep up with my riding. I’m a high honors student so I suspect there will be a few decent scholarships, and I haven’t looked into FA yet. Cost is something ill be talking to my parents about when im choosing schools to apply to next year. For right now I’m just curious about which colleges have excellent prevet programs that can help me get to where I wanna be.

This doesn’t help expand your search any, but Cornell has an equestrian program.

Academically, pretty much any good college will have the courses you need for pre-vet. You can look at previous threads for pre-med programs since the course requirements are similar. Of course, ones that are connected to vet schools might offer some advantages in terms of internships (see WPI) or special courses I would think.
