Hi. I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how previous bad grades at previous colleges look as a transfer. I got really bad grades at my first college. I went to a CC after, where I never went and got a few W's. Now I am going to a different CC and I am getting a 3.8 gpa. How is that going to affect my chances of transferring? I would love any opinions!

As always, it depends!
If you’re looking to go ivy, it certainly may affect you. At the same time, you are obviously showing maturity and progress. In general, I don’t think it will hurt you as severely as you may think, but it may put a second thought into the committee’s mind. I would suggest doing a great essay and mentioning how your maturity has improved greatly, and also possibly scheduling an interview to talk about it. From my experience, admissions staff like when you’re honest and just say “yeah. I did screw up, and then I realized I was on the wrong path.”
Good luck!
