I just had a question with regards to personal statements and essays for the UC application.

So last year, I applied to a UC and was accepted. However, I was not able to go through with the acceptance because of personal reasons. So now, I am reapplying to the same UCs.

For my application, would it be okay to send the same personal statement and essay since they were something I wrote that got me accepted last year. I did make a few changes because I wanted to add new perspectives that I have learned since I wrote it, but it is essentially very similar to what I sent last year.

So would this be okay? Or would this be bad and jeopardize my application and acceptance to the UC?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I’d say it’s okay. I mean they read thousands of essays. I did it (changed it and improved it alot though) I think it won’t be detrimental to you if you use the same, as long as it’s still relevant (all information is still correct, like if u put age, or where you live or bla bla bla) and it’s written well, i say go for it!

Thank you for your input!

I’m just scared though, because if I sent it online, would they be able to tell that it’s an essay that’s been sent before maybe through a program like Senditin.com? If they do, I’m scared that even if I WAS the one who wrote it, they might count it as plagiarism, which might get me an automatic rejection. Or is this not how it works?

Thanks again for you guys’ responses.

Yeah I’m not that sure how the PS process goes, but you have the same UC number. You can tell because you can access your old UC application through your UC account. It won’t be plagiarism, they’ll know that if they do see the other one from last year, it’s yours.

Oh that’s right. I forgot about the UC number. Thanks once again. I really appreciate it :).

Should I just submit it like that though? Or should I put something in the additional comments section talking about this incident?
