Is there any way to find out the prices for the textbooks we pre-ordered through the bookstore? We requested used books, but I realize that used books are on a first-come, first-served basis. Do you just have to wait until you actually pick up the reserved books to find out the final amount?

I did find on VIP that you can see the required books, and also the new and used price. We requested used books, but I've heard you don't always get them, so I just took the total for new books and added that to D's carolina card account since that is how I was planning on paying. I also added a bit extra since I wasn't sure about taxes. I figure she'll use the money eventually anyway. It's amazing how expensive books are!!

textbooks are a fortune. S requested used last year but got mostly new, and he ordered way early. They can only sell as many used copies as they get back, and its not always a book that was used previously.
We didnt order last spring's books as S now had the "lay of the land".He bought some at the campus bookstore, one online, one at a nearby bookstore and one from a kid who came to the classroom door selling the text/computer program for Accounting privately9good deal for seller and buyer..seller got more than the bookstore would give back and buyer paid less than used cost at the bookstore.
He plans a combo approach again, but for the comfort of an incoming freshman its not a bad idea to pay the bookstore prices and have everything in place just for peace of mind.
Dont forget if anyones getting your kid a going away gift (like grandparents) Barnes and Noble gift cards are usable for textbooks and everything else they sell there, including Starbucks!!

We bought my d's books through the bookstore pre-order as well. It did make her life easier.
After her fall classes, she had a book that the bookstore would not buy back ( changing editions). I put it on e-bay and was able to get 52.00 for it so I thought I'd pass that idea along !

What a great idea PA Mom. I just love ebay!!
