Prices sharply rise this fall for campus-supplied birth control

On to a very pertinent question:

Who should pay for birth control: the government, the boy, or the girl?

The government? Are you kidding me?

50/50 - boy/girl.

I believe if you can't take the responsibility of a child, you shouldn't be having sex in the first place. It's a natural human urge, but if you don't have a job and the time to raise a family, you shouldn't try to start one. Even with contraceptives there is always a risk.

But isn't procuring contraception a sign of maturity?

That's like saying it's mature to buy car insurance becuase you're planning to get drunk and go driving

"I believe if you can't take the responsibility of a child, you shouldn't be having sex in the first place. It's a natural human urge, but if you don't have a job and the time to raise a family, you shouldn't try to start one. Even with contraceptives there is always a risk."

Arguable, but I'll even give you that much for arguments sake. But who cares a couple ends up with an unwanted pregnancy? It's their problem, let them deal with it.

Yes. I believe you can have sex married or not, but you first must learn responsibility. Sex is something adults, not kids, do. It's not fair to try to have fun that adults can rightfully have if one is not ready for the responsibility that it entails.

firewalker- I wish I could believe that. Unfortunately, it goes against natural selection, stupid people would be polluting the gene pool.

"That's like saying it's mature to buy car insurance becuase[sic] you're planning to get drunk and go driving[.]"

Also arguable, but I'll give you that much for arguments sake. I ask you the same question I asked in my previous post:

But who cares a couple ends up with an unwanted pregnancy? It's their problem, let them deal with it.

"Yes. I believe you can have sex married or not, but you first must learn responsibility. Sex is something adults, not kids, do. It's not fair to try to have fun that adults can rightfully have if one is not ready for the responsibility that it entails."

Who said we're talking about minors having sex?

OK, now you're entering the abortion/rights of an unborn child arena. That is opening another huge, but not necessarily completely unrelated, can of teenage mutant ninja worms.

"Unfortunately, it goes against natural selection, stupid people would be polluting the gene pool."

rotflmfao @ that line of reasoning. guess we should prevent short people, people with IQ's less than 100, people with bad acne, bald people, and fat people from having sex too, eh?

"OK, now you're entering the abortion/rights of an unborn child arena. That is opening another huge, but not necessarily completely unrelated, can of teenage mutant ninja worms."

Not really, we're talking about birth control, it's costs, and how rising costs affect college females. Abortion/rights of an unborn child don't even enter this discussion, as it's assumed each couple will deal with their problems on an individual basis. How will the couple deal with such problems, you ask? Who cares, it's not yours or mine to deal with.

I DON'T CARE! They are only ruining they're own lives so why should I care. Call me evil but I find it VERY funny and not sad at all when I see a 21yr old and under pregnant. They knew what they were doing and what the consequences are. No college degree no stable home, McDonalds is gonna be there occupation for the rest of their lives. Their lives are OVER! A couple of hours of pleasure(or a couple of minutes depending on the guy) resulted into a lifetime commitment. How can that not be funny?!

Its only not funny in the cases of rape, little girls pregnant, etc.

Wholly deserved TITCR.

A couple that engages in sexual behaviors automatically acknowledges the potential ramifications. No pity from me. And I don't find your attitudes evil at all, it's more of a "justice is served" type scenario, really.

Yes really. One of the major ways that women deal with unwanted pregnancies, believe it or not, is abortion, which you're bringing into the picture by saying "After you're pregnant, do whatever you want about it as long as you don't bother me."

And...? What about it?

quote: Are condoms actually reliable? Do they work?

Is this the result of abstance only education?

Yes, condoms do work - up to well over 90% - nearly 100% if used correctly. To make that practically 100%, as an extra measure the woman can also use a spermacide (also available at local drug stores) in addition to the condom.

Condoms are better than birth control pills anyway (or should be used in addition to them) because only condoms lower the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.

I really don't get why people care so much about these types of things. It shouldn't and doesn't have a huge impact on your life so why do people care so much?

Theres edible condoms? That is the stupidest **** I've ever heard. Whats the point of them then?

"I really don't get why people care so much about these types of things. It shouldn't and doesn't have a huge impact on your life so why do people care so much?"

TITCR. I suppose it's because rising costs are making it more difficult for college females to engage in sexual intercourse without the risk of pregnancy/STDs.
