How much are they? And there's no way to rent only a microwave?

Wait, so a "microfrige" is actually a microwave and a refrigerator?

they're about $200 and there is no way to rent or buy only a microwave.. its against nj fire laws or something

Hey I know this has been addressed in pervious forums but I have a question that is specific to Princeton. I just want to know if the bathrrooms have "changing areas" or if one has to change in their own room? I understand that "we have the same thing" but that does not mean it has to be bared. I have never been naked in front of people except for times when I have to be hospitalized and even then it is uncomfortable. Even in sports I always changed in private. I am not ashamed, just not accustomed to this and I would like some suggestions from older Princetonians, especially females on what to do and if the community bathrooms have changing areas. BTW, I am in Holder this year.

Speaking of this whole bathroom issue - i think its rediculous not only that guys and girls have separate bathrooms, but that girls bathrooms have code locks on them. Are ALL dorm bathrooms like this????

Re the question on changing, I think about 95% of everyone changes in your room, if only because your roommate will have a different schedule from you and may be out of the room the same time as you. If, however, changing in front of a few people is unnerving for you, the bathrooms have shower stalls, while the toilets are walled-in, like they are in a restaurant, so you can easily change in there.

ec1234: There's a microwave between Campbell & Joline. Or was three years ago.

ivyboy: Yeah, that whole bathroom-locking thing is both annoying and stupid. Supposedly it's to "protect" us females. (Right. Sounds like duct tape and plastic to me.) It's especially fun to get stuck in a building on an end of campus where you don't know the code, and there's nobody to ask, and end up using the men's. (None of the men's are coded, even though some have code boxes installed.) To add to the hilarity, every guy knows the code to the one nearest them... if only to inform visiting female friends / sisters / girlfriends / mothers. But whatever. At least it's only that way in the dorms. Some dorms in fact collectively agree to unofficially redesignate the gender of a bathroom, if there is a significant imbalance... housing doesn't like it, but they aren't really paying attention.

trisa: Changing areas in the bathrooms? Not specifically. Handicapped stalls are your best bet, or changing when you're roommate's out. Where are you living? You have a double...?

thanks for the responses guys. I acutally am in a quad and it looks as if (from the floor plans) that our room has a common room. But what caugfht me by surprise is this code thing!! Are you serious??!!! That's a little absurd if you ask me. If someone really wants to "get" a girl, he'll find a way and the codes might actually be inconvenient. Another question? According to the Daily Princetonian online archive, there have been many many complaints about toilet tissue at Pton. I just want to know, HOW big of a deal is this? Is it really that bad to bring Charmin!! baby soft LOL

I think there was some issue a couple years ago when the University switched to using one-ply toilet paper in most of the dorms. From a guy's perspective, I don't find it a big deal at all -- if it is, simply use twice as much paper -- except in the instances when I need toilet paper to mop a spill up. But that's why one buys paper towels, etc.

Trisa - i totally agree with you. There is no beating the softness and gentleness of Charmin. No wonder those bears love it so much!

No, not those bloody bears!

Uh...ok, I'm looking at the floorplans. How do you know whether or not the bathrooms are men or women bathrooms?

But it's soft of their bear a s s e s!

(get it?)

Hey new question, I want to get sculpted at Princeton, so I was wondering whether their gym had a free trainers...or for that matter, if their gym was free.
Also, how can I get 5-6 servings of food a day? The meal plan doesn't cover that much...so is their any place where I can get free (or cheap) and somewhat simple food?

sculpted! hel-lo pa-co. (i'm totally kidding, people :D)

The gym is free but there's too much of rush there at some specific times, so even if there are free trainers, they won't be able to attend to you.

You can just eat a lot at one sitting? lol it's a point system with a buffet so you can just eat two servings at each meal time. Otherwise, there are dining options in Frist and on Nassau etc.

You can't tell which bathrooms are which from the floorplans because they change. http://facilities.princeton.edu/housing/a_undergraduate/_drawguide/bathroom_designations.htm

if you like eating more than 3 times a day, you can get the 20 meal a week plan and use your extra meals as late meals in frist. You can swipe once, even if youve eaten in the dinning hall already. I'drecommend not eating at the dining hall friday-sunday nights, and that way youll have some extra meals during the week. I dont think I ever used up all of my meals- and I had a 14 meal a week plan-- but then again I didnt eat breakfast and rarely went to the dining hall for lunch

oh and about microwaves- i don't actually know if campbell and joline have microwaves or not-- I just thought that they didnt have kitchens like witherspoon and blair? I can say for sure that if youre in wilson college and not in dodge osborn, a microwave would be extremely useful or youll be stuck walking to the do kitchen whenever you need one
